When did you start workout out at the Bodysmith & why?
I started working out in February of 2020. I have worked out my entire life including through a serious breast cancer journey in 2016 (surgery, chemo & radiation). Hot Yoga was my main go-to but Orange Theory became my new gym when we moved from Seattle to Omaha. I have some old fractures in my low back which began to really give me issues from the crazy things I was doing at O.T. My back surgeon gave me the boot from doing those kinds of activities and I actually took my first real break in 20 years from regular exercise. In February of 2020, I was told about the Bodysmith. I came in and met Brad and the coaching team. Everyone was so amazing and I began a personalized workout that allowed me to get back into it and strengthen my back. It was the beginning of something amazing!
How many days per week do you exercise?
I now work out 5 days a week. I try to do the 5 am class. It allows me to be at the office by 7 am. If I don’t do a class, I do the workout at home. Coach Katie and Jen got me totally set up with all the weights and bands I need to do a great workout. I also do the Saturday morning class which is the perfect way to start the weekend!
What are your current fitness goals and what keeps you on track?
My goal is strength and building muscle. My diet has always been clean and healthy, it’s just my muscles that really deteriorated quickly with my little 7-month break. I’m getting stronger by the day but have miles to go! What keeps me on track is Coach Katie! Even when I travel, she has been so awesome to send me specialized workouts so I don’t go backward.
What do you do when you aren’t at the gym?
I work a ton, often 12 or more hours a day and the good thing is… I love my work! When I’m not working, I spend time with my husband on the boat waterskiing or just cruising. I have a great group of girlfriends that I also love to be with and we do many fun girl trips. We have 5 grandkids on the west coast so try to get there often! We also have two super cool Schnoodles that we love so much!
What is your favorite exercise, supplement, clothing, etc that you can’t live without?
I love my workout shoes! I actually feel stronger when I put them on…weird I know! I also love the bands I purchased from the Bodysmith. You can do anything with them and can travel with them easily!
What advice would you give someone who is just starting their fitness journey?
Just be brave and trust the coaches Being uncomfortable with a new situation is normal but so healthy for us. Uncomfortable means change and that is good. Before you know it, you will feel like the Bodysmith is home and that you are a part of an amazing new family!
What benefits have you seen since you’ve been working out at the Bodysmith?
The most important benefit has been hardwiring an established routine for exercise. The team spirit helps create a strong commitment to daily exercise for me. In addition, I have definitely turned fat into muscle!
