This is a part-time position as a fitness coach working with 1-4 members an hour for semi-private training and up to 15 members for our high-energy Team Training classes. If you are hired for this position, you’ll begin coaching members in the gym 2 – 3 days per week for 2-5 hours per day (p.m. hours), and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday mornings with an opportunity for more hours.
Perform Fitness Evaluations: Measure body composition, girth, postural evaluations, flexibility tests, and functional movement screen.
Coach members through fitness programs and track client progress: You’ll be responsible for implementing exercise programs written by the program design department, demonstrating proper exercise techniques, and keeping detailed weekly reports on the member’s progress. This includes tracking current successes and challenges, reviewing member nutrition and exercise log worksheets, and more. It will be your job to hold the member accountable for his/her health and fitness program to ensure the best results possible.
Provide Ongoing Health and Fitness Education: Our members rely on us to service all of their health and fitness needs. It is your job as a fitness coach to provide your clients with health and fitness education on various topics that will empower them to lead healthy lives forever. You’ll be provided with educational tools and resources, and will be expected to study them and speak about them with your clients. We will also spend time covering this in our weekly staff meetings.
Work as a team with the Bodysmith staff to meet the company goals.
Excellent Communication Skills: you will be talking with our members, who are VERY important to us. You must be comfortable conversing in-person and on the phone, know how to conduct yourself professionally, and deliver clear instructions to the clients. We’ll teach you everything you need to do during a training session, but we can’t teach you manners and professionalism.
Great Personality and People Skills: you must LOVE working with people and be very comfortable working with people. This is an exciting club and you must be able to show our members energy and excitement while working with them.
Health and Fitness Education: You should have a working knowledge of the human body (i.e. muscles, movements, functions, etc.).
National personal training certification
CPR/ AED & First Aid certified
Bonus Skills
Previous personal training experience (fitness studio, health club, in-home trainer, etc.)
Basic nutrition knowledge
Kinesiology or Exercise Science Degree
Computer literacy (Mac preferred)
If you are the right person for this position, your starting pay is $15 per hour with the opportunity to move up to $17 per hour and increased hours after a 90-day trial period. Our gym offers a professional yet fun environment with exceptional training equipment and the opportunity to grow in a successful fitness training business. We are a growing business that rewards hard work and commitment. This can evolve into a full-time position with increased pay for the right candidate.
After applying and being accepted, the candidate will undergo a three-week internship. This is a paid probational period where you will begin to learn and implement our systems, and philosophy and get to know our members. Once the internship is completed, you will receive the aforementioned salary.
